Since 2010, and as a result of thousands of champion efforts, our community is seeing more:Children walking, biking and taking movement breaks in schools Employers adopting wellness policies and offering healthy food options T owns adopting policies to create tobacco free parks and recreation areas Organizations, schools and restaurants purchasing locally produced food T owns adopting policies and projects to improve the safety and accessibility of their streets for pedestrians and cyclists Community stakeholders providing education and awareness around the public health issues facing our community, including people with mental health and substance use problems Local, state and national groups focusing conversation and action to increase living wage jobs and affordable, workforce housingBut. there is more work to be done! We encourage and celebrate your engagement! Do your part to create a healthy community made up of strong, stable families living in safe neighborhoods where fresh, local food is accessible and affordable. Do your part to create a community where employers pay living wages to all their employees and provide healthy environments for a safe and active work day. Do your part to create a community where schools are educating our children for the 21st century, feeding them the healthiest meals possible and supporting them to avoid risky behaviors and develop physical activity habits for life.
